Cobra Fish N Dive - Trolling

My brother has health issues and can't make it out to La Jolla with a paddle.
Is it safe for me to put pvc pipes down the 2 scupper holes behind his seat and mount a trolling motor on there? I'm just thinking eventually the forces exerted from the pvc pipes on the scupper holes may crack that are of the kayak? Any opinions would be great, I just have no idea what the tolerance of the frame is capable of withstanding. Thanks:confused:

I just saw a post where oex installed a trolling motor on a tarpon I believe may want to get ahold of them and see what recommendations they have.

Motor = Boat??

I remember reading that once you power a kayak or canoe it is now a boat requiring registration CF# etc.

I wouldnt put a motor mounted through scuppers. Bolt a piece of Aluminum Angle across the kayak behind the seat or use Riv-nuts to make more easily removed.

We do the BassYaks motors a lot, they are awesome but start at 500.00.

And yes once you motorize it youll need CF Numbers. Last I heard was 15.00 for 2 years.

I had an FnD years ago and I think it may have been set up to take a trolling motor. It had a molded in battery sized depression in the tank well any way. Mike

I'll stay away from the scupper holes, and look into the the aluminum behind the seat. Thanks again everyone for all the info!

I don't have a kayak yet, but I've been looking at the Cobra Fish-n-Dive.. I've seen a bunch of posts on motorizing this boat. Just google it..

Here's a "self-contained" milk crate electric motor that looked pretty good:

Good luck!
