Every once in a while you begin your pull and your hoop net is noticeably heavier...there's a telltale thump, thump, thump with every pull. I was thinking this one's going to be a mambo bug...NOT. Wing tip to wing tip, this Bat Ray filled up my entire net.

Part two
Lets hear about how you got it out of the trap.
|
Haha, for sure. That last picture has the trap upside down (see bait box)...the stinger was outside of the net trying to stick me. It was one of those "please get out...please get out..."
|
LOL I bet. I would be praying to god as well wtg on the release without getting hurt
|
This is where it pays to have flat nets !
|
Wow, how the heck did he even get in there in the first place, he is huge for that net.
I have probably pulled over 20 small rays in the last two weeks. |
I had that happen to me before but definitely not on my kayak! That would be....a problem...!
|
Holy crap!
I had the same thing happen to me last night but mine came up with a shovelnose shark. |
     W T H ?!?!?!?!
Dude! Glad you got it out without getting hurt! Hope the rest of the night went better than that! |

The schedule's tight this week but I'm usually game. I pm'd you last week but got no response...Jim |
isnt he cute?!
best way is to turn the net sideways, reach in and stick two fingers in its mouth, get a lock on it upper jaw and just pull it out. they slide right out and glide away. |
Jim PM'dyou back (sorry for the delay!)
Chris not many people are as bat ray nuts as you are! LOL (you ought to post a link to some of the UFO's you are USED to catching) :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: |

sting rays have much larger and often multiple stingers to hit you with. |
Soooo... Can you eat them?
|
