Any concerns about fish from SD Bay?

Is there anything to be concerned about with fish caught in the Bay, especially around the Coronado bridge which is so close to the 10th St. Port and across from Nassco etc.

Like the bottom dwellers. safe to eat?

I've never fished that area but people ask the same questions about Cabrillo. I've been fishing 1-2 times a month for about two years now, no health issues after eating the fish that come out of that area.

It depends on the type of fish. Some fish accumulate toxins more readily, based on diet and travel patterns, than others. There is ongoing testing expected out in 2013 covering SD bay. Here is a recent article.

Was just wondering, I've lived here all my life when the shipyards, navy etc were all going full bore and there were warnings then. Everything in moderation i guess. Thanks

I've been fishing and eating fish from the big bay for well over 30 years. Moderation is key. Fish move around big time in the bay and pretty much anywhere from harbor island towards the entrance has a good water exchange rate.
