Cracked revo

I have been noticing a lot of water inside my hobie revolution lately when I landed on the beach. I finally started to get nervous and took the boat down to fast lane and asked them to take a look. They found a crack under where the peddles attach. The boat is two and a half years old. Just out of warranty. They have contacted hobie to see what they can do for me. I'll let you know what happens.

What year is 08 and older? Or newer? I heard in other models like outback that problem been fixed 08 and newer but also heard this problem still occurs in the newer revos?

I think it an 09

Does it have the Click and Go Drivewell, or do you have to turn the cam knobs to lock in the Mirage Drive ??

mike m 07-22-2012 03:08 PM

Click and go

09 was the first year for the click and go system.

I had an 06 outback, and email hobie about the problem.they ask me to contact Andy and send them pictures.i had to pay $500 and pick either an outback or revo.dont know if that was good or not ,good luck to you. LET US KNOW WHAT HAPPENDS.

Did you purchase the revo new or buy it used? also, which type of drive is prone to leaks- turn cam or click and go?

Hobie should back their product even if you aren't the original owner, these things are pricy. Hope it works out for you.

contacting andy is the best thing you can do... i was in a similar situation and he made sure i was taken care of. he and hobie made me a very satisfied customer!

Its the cams that are more prone to cracks....metal to plastic is no bueno but i have heard that for some reason the newer revos still suffers from it. Heard rumors but op is the first actual case

Op can you post pics? One from far so we see where it is and up close

Hobie very generously pro rates out of warranty kayaks. Example of Benny's 6 years use of a kayak and multiple owners, and then getting a brand new one at a fraction of the cost of new. The cracking described is very rare, I have had one come through my store and Hobie was very surprised to hear it on a newer drive.

Thanks to everyone for your info and encouragement. I bought the kayak new from fast lane in November of 09. I stared to see water a couple of months ago, but just thought it was coming in from the top when a wave washed over me at launch. It continued to get worse and I saw significant water even if I went to the bay. Fastlane has filed a picture with Hobie and I am waiting to hear from them. I hope I don't lose too much fishing time while I am waiting to hear.

I just heard from the guys at fast lane, Hobie is replacing the kayak. Great news and I am very happy they are standing behind their product.

Great to hear that Hobie will be replacing the kayak. That's what I call great service and standing behind their product.
