Uni-Butter or Edge Hot Sauce?
Ive seen both at Tackle shops, Which one works better, last longer and out performs the other?
|
I keep both of them in my tackle box. Uni butter is a San Diego company and is a great product. Stinky stuff, works great, made from sea urchin. In my opinion it tends not to last long on the plastic so you need to reapply often.
Hot Sauce is from I believe Newport beach so somewhat local. It gives a nice slime texture to the artificial bait and stays on for a few cast. It also works well, not as stinky as Uni Butter. I don't love the container it comes in, when cold it can be hard to get out, but when warm very easy. Both great fish attractants that work. |

I like them both. It's all a matter of preference in my opinion......pepsi vs. coke.
I suggest buying a tube of both and seeing which one works best for you. An even better idea: fish next to a buddy and both of you use a different scent. |
Unibutter hands down... I've tried all sorts of scents. Unibutter is the only thing I slather on my grubs and jigs.
|
Used Hot Sauce for years then meet this guy named Tommy Gomes at the launch ramp in Shelter Island " Say i am making a new scent here is a sample let me know what you think of it" All I can say is Uni Butter WORKS! and haven't found anything better. Never leave home without it.

Same here. Most all the tournament guys use it cuz it works. |
Salt water hands down Unibutter. Freshwater for trout Unibutter doesn't seem to work but hot sauce kills.
|
It's all about that stinky butter, man!!!
|
Sweet! Thank you all.:notworthy:

I'll put in my $.02 for Hot Sauce. No matter which you use it's best to transfer it to a small tupperware like container. Makes for much easier application. Landwhale uses butter and I use sauce, we both use the tupperware.

I can't speak for the Hot Sauce but Uni-butter I can. Last year I was fishing in the south bay, and I had a 4" swim bait that I was going to use and I put the butter on it. As I let the bait sink so I could real in the other line the bait with butter gets hammered, I didn't even have to jig the bait. Released the fish and casted out again, WHAM! This when on for about 20 minutes. The second rod I had in the water had the same bait on and was roughly in the same area but did not have UniButter on it. The bait with the Unibutter was getting nailed. Think what you will but the butter gets you bit, and the fish hang on.

butter the bait, I have used many as well still have em, but UB still gets stocked on a regular basis
|
Whether it helps or not, I always butter up my swimbaits.
