TacticalFishingCrew: Two reports in one. 05/18&19/2012.
Decided to just make two reports in one!
Report #1: Date: 05/18/2012. (Woke up on the wrong side of the bed.) Target: Rockfish. Departure time: 6:30am. My buddy Justin wanted to go Rockfishing since he overslept last weekend and missed a fun & steady bite, so he wanted to go this time for sure. We had to borrow his dads pick-up truck since my little bro needed my truck to get to work. I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and was just grumpy & irritated. Had trouble stapping down the yaks on his dads truck, forgot the bait, fishfinder, forgetting items on the shore having to paddle back to get them... Anyways, we launched around 6am... http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560341.jpg Got to the mouth of the harbor and quickly made some Mackeral for the Secondary Target Species ;) Without having my fishfinder on board, it was going to be tough to find the fishing hole, so I just made a guess and dropped down. Justin was already getting nibbles & pulling up little taco size dinks. By then I already knew we were on a good hole. My first nibble, I set the hook and BAM! :reel: http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560343.jpg Who needs a fishfinder ?! Still got on top of the fish! DOUBLE! :D http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560345.jpg Then I make a short paddle to try to stay on top of the fish, drop down again, nibble... nibble... tug... BAM! AGAIN! http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560347.jpg Justin continues to bring up dinks. :luxhello: http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560353.jpg Then we drift off the spot and continue searching, but we keep bringing up more dinks & a few Sand Dabs... Later in the day Justin sees something out in the distance. I see a fin out of water, thinking it was a shark so I paddled closer LMAO! As I get closer, I notice it was only a Sun Fish. http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560351.jpg http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560352.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhMLGQLsMgs I end the day with a short stringer of Chuckles, & Justin to ashamed to take a pic of his fish lol. And that is that! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Report #2 Date: 05/19/2012. Target species: Bass. Departure time: 6:30am. My little bro gets a day off from work and of course he wants to go fishing. So we hit "The Wall" Launched around 6am on a really low & calm tide. http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560362.jpg Brought the fishfinder this time! http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560363.jpg 1st cast, 1st fish! http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560365.jpg 2nd cast, 2nd fish! BTW, my lil bro is still paddling to the spot LOL! :D http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560366.jpg Bro finally makes it and selects his spot, and HOOk UP! Starfish :o http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560367.jpg Then he finally hooks up on the right kind. http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560368.jpg Lil bro had caught more fish in the day but I was too far to snap some pics. The current kept pushing us torwards the wall fast. Then the current slows down & the bite just drops, so we decide to head back in after a short session and troll a Mackeral Rapala Jig for the "Other Kind", but no takers. Wind starting picking up quick, made it back to the harbor, unloaded our gear and started playing with our kayaks to test stability :D Stand up: http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560370.jpg Bow down: http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560369.jpg Stern dip: http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560372.jpg And the Upside down yak!: http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...1337560373.jpg Decent weekend of fishing. I always wanted to know: What does the fishfinder see when the kayak is upside down? Does is show the birds? Swim under and take a look next time.

Nice job, be careful with that lucanus knock-off rig though. 2 hooks plus one hook from teaser jig = 3 hooks, which is DFG no-no for rockfish.

If he ever needs a transducer that can scan sideways he can just turn the kayak on its side. |
