Caught this yesterday out of Dana Point. Personal Best since it was my first. About 15 inches long, which isn't bad since they say they grow to 18".

I don't know if those rubber lips are rare or they just don't bite hooks to often. I caught one surf fishing in Baja about 20 years ago and I used to shoot a few off Cardiff reef. Haven't seen one for years though. Nice catch. Mike

When Amish Ed and I went on Monday i was catching lots of them,but they were a small about 6"-9" I didn't know what they were.i knew they were some kind of perch.i hooked about 20 with sabiki looking for mackerel.

Used to catch those all the time when fishing breakwaters in SMB. That's a big one no doubt!! :D
