What should I do. . .

In august I flipped my kayak on a surf launch and clearly F'd UP the gears.

It's a shimano chronarch that has no business in salt water (but it is what it is.)

Are these tough to clean and service on your own or better off having a pro do it?

probably only cost ya 15-20 bucks to have them do it at the Shimano Service Center in Irvine.

For something like that to happen to a chronarch, if it was mine, I'd have Ken's Custom Reels take care of it. But if Shimano is closer to you, they would be my second choice. If it was a hardier reel, it probably wouldn't be as big of a deal. Just my opinion.

If you are a do it yourself guy look to alan tani

or mikes

If not you can pay someone, or go to shimano.

Shimano seems to do almost everything for $25. I'd take it to them.

Thanks, I'm sold.

For $25 plus shipping, it'll go to shimano.

Their repair center is 2 miles from where I work. Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully I can drop off and pick it up (save a little on shipping).

Being that close you can definitely drop it off and pick it up. No shipping needed.

fishsouthcounty 09-01-2011 09:54 AM

ya they will hold it for you for a few days if they finish it and its your weekend or something. Just pick it up when you go back to work. Heads up, i took a few reels in about 3 weeks ago and it took 2 weeks for them to get done....they were super backed up. Might have just been with all the tuna starting to heat up.

DanaPT 09-03-2011 08:08 AM

Yeah, turn time. . . 3 weeks. . .

Oh well. I have other gear I can fish with for now.

Thanks for all the replies.

ya i dropped off a TLD 20/40 and got it back in about 14 or 15 days....also had dropped off 2 old corvalus 400's and they told me they were going to ship me out 2 new ones by mid week this week but havent seen those yet.
