Fresh water kayak rinse
Every once in a while its nice to wash off the kayak of all that La Jolla salt and sand and fish slime with some fresh water. I'd never taken the 'yak on a road trip so I thought some Sierra Nevada fresh water might do the trick. I've done a lot of exploring up and down the 395 so for this trip I thought I'd try the west side.
This looks promising. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...MG_0418_sm.jpg Arriving 'downtown', this place looks about right. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...MG_0472_sm.jpg Have to make sure they have all the proper amenities. No problem with that. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...MG_0447_sm.jpg Time to gear up and hit the water. Its nice to give the bait tank and braided line a rest and get out the small stuff for a change. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...MG_0469_sm.jpg With no bait and tackle shop in town to hit up for local knowledge, I was on my own. They've got to be out here somewhere. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...MG_0459_sm.jpg I'm not much of a trout fisherman. I can hardly tell the difference between a Royal Coachman and a Thomas Buoyant. But fish are fish and they all behave like fish, more or less. So after scouting around likely fishy habitats, I had some dinner in hand, so to speak. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...MG_0429_sm.jpg http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...MG_0426_sm.jpg Back to camp, waiting for the grill to heat up, I took the time to rinse myself off with some ice cold Sierra Nevada fresh water. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...MG_0455_sm.jpg |

Very nice Pete! Looks like a great time in a beautiful surrounding!:luxhello:
Reminds me alot of where I grew up: http://www.mtevanstroutfishing.com/index.htm It used to be called the Pinecrest trout ranch, but the new owners changed the name when we sold it. Many childhood memories there though! Congrats again on a great time! |
Nice looking town. Got to try the Torpedo's (IPA). Thanks for sharing.:reel:

Nice Rainbow. Its cool how varied their appearance can be, but its a bow for sure. The 5th photo down is amazing :you_rock:

Looks and sounds like a great trip. As much as I love our local salt water fish I have to say fresh trout grilled or cooked in the bacon grease for breakfast is hard to beat. Mike
