WIDE OPEN on the Tilapia. Every cast returned with a fish. Caught them from an inch to a foot in length. Great time if you can stand 100+ degree weather.

looks like breakfast food to me...
my fav...talapia fillets in a skillet a little season salt on the fish, serve it up with some eggs, maybe some ranch style potatoes, got yourself a meal...or...clean um right there and sit em on a rock and let them fry...

Wallmart. Gods gift to stores. Used crawlers and drop shot power worms.

I'm gonna fish all weekend and I think I'm gonna run out to the desert tomorrow and fish some of those tilapia. Haven't heard of anybody catching em' on the yak....probably because you can catch 100 from shore....but what the hell I'll give it a go...maybe I can catch 200..... will take some pictures, hopefully my kayak doesn't melt in the heat....

when the corvina faded out of the sea I was pretty bummed because I loved that desolate empty place. I got in right at the end of that amazing fishery and fished of a big windsurfing board with a milk crate on the front. First the mullet then sargo, croaker, and then the vinas died out. Glad the good old tilapia are still around. Those are a fun sports fish, hard fight, good looking, and super tastey. And Tinhman, it's just out the 8 freeway on the way to El Centro. Big ass salty lake, 38 miles long and 8-12 miles wide. Can't miss it. Mike

Looks like you were at North Shore Marina. I remember camping at Cleveland Street & pulling in 2# plus tilapia all day. But the stink during a die off & the heat/sun on a pale ass Brit like me.

Goodmemories. Glad to see there is still life there.

How was water level looking? Last year you could have walked from Hazard Unit out to Red Hill. Pretty sad how low it was getting. Hoping the big rain year has the sea up some for this years duck season.

I am constantly in Ocotillo wells and pass the Salton Sea all the time. I was told by a non fisherman that the fish there were not fit to eat, but again he is a non fisherman. So I never thought about even trying... So they are good eating then?

That would be a fun run, take the trucks out catch some fish and head back to camp for the fish fry... ha ha

Ryan I am 100% in for a truck run/fishing trip. We fish the canals a lot too, always soemthing to catch or shoot in the IV.
