best place to launch for them with minimal surf? Guess i should say the "newport pipe" too not the dana one?

Are you asking about the one at, 36 degs 16 '13" by 117 deg 57' 49" W
that would be about 4 miles from the jetty?

yeaaa, are those man made jetties just north of the peir really surfy? Or would a noob be able to handle it without making a yard sale? :sifone:

edit: i think that spot is the newp artificial reefs.

Stay away from the wedge and you should be ok. some days NPB can be a lake and some days it can get over head. There is a thread here about surf forecasts, you might want to book mark the web sites listed there.
