Which model of sterns or SOspenders pfd is best for Kayak fishing?
looking into purchasing of this brands any suggestions on which model I should get?
|
I have not used either. I have a nrs chnook, very comfortable and lots of movement.
are you looking for just a self inflating? or one good for paddling and fishing? did you see this one? http://www.kayakfishingsupplies.com/...her-PFD/Detail |
one for kayaking and fishing in cali newport harbor and la jolla
|
Just make sure it has a high back first... Then I went with one that had nice pockets and adjustabiltiy...
You will only buy one and use it for a long time most likely so go nice! |
what phatford said get one that fits good and has a high back. A regular pfd or a ski vest will not be comfortable on a kayak. Get one for paddling. look into NRS and stolquist and oynx i'm sure there are others out there but those are the ones I can speak for.

crappy laptop kk I see the light! lol will check it out

i have the extrasport sturgeon fishing pfd. it is a nice one, but the front the foam padding is pretty bulky and when it is not cold out i tend to not want to use it.
i had purchased this thru the internet and if i were to have tried this in a store, i wouldn't have bought it because of the bulky front. but after saying that it is a good jacket. has lots of pockets and i like that the front pocket has a storage for hooks. |

I have the same one, for the money I justified it as a one time use all the time neccisary thing. Also I am not a fan of the self inflating type, unless it has the automatic discharge as soon as you hit the water. The self inflate type won't work to well if you get knocked out for some reason. If you have the presence of mind and everything to inflate it then you probably didn't need it. |

Cough Cough http://www.kayakfishingsupplies.com/...man-PFD/Detail  The fisherman is a very nice vest. I wear a Harmony FZ 7.7 personally. I like the lower profile and lack of bulky pockets. |
And OEX is cheaper :luxhello::luxhello::luxhello::luxhello:, support your local shop :D. If you stop buy they also will drop you some kayak gear knowledge, not going to get that at REI

http://www.trailspace.com/gear/kokatat/outfit-tour/ * I just quickly found a link for you. Search around for a better price on the net or hit up your local kayak shop. ** I just noticed your link to the Outfit. The Outfit pfd in your link looks like a winner to me.... |
