If I’m taking any prescription drugs, I bring these along as well as extra prescriptions from my doctor in case I lose the meds or need more when on the road. To be on the safe side, you may want to keep the meds in their original containers so you don’t have trouble with Coastguard inspections.


I am sure that the safety conscious members of this board could fill in the gaps for me for a complete kit as I am sure I have overlooked some things.

For a safari in the outback! I will add a few of those items to my first aid kit for mexico.

But for kayaking LJ? On the off chance something really bad happens make sure you can stay afloat and breathe while you call 911.

No Viagra?

Shit I knew i forgot something major! Good Call! Please add at least a week supply of Viagra ... Just in Case;)

Yeah I like that list for a long secluded excursion but for LJ or any inshore fishing I would say its more water survival gear vs. first aid gear.

- Pliers
- Knife
- Whistle
- PFD
- Manual Pump
- Compass
- VHF and a backup (cell phone)
- Flashlight/Headlamp
- Extra batteries

Worst first aid emergency would probably be a stuck hook, the small bolt cutters may be your only solution there, or paddling back and dealing with it at shore!

I was thinking condom, but held back until I saw this.

One other thing not listed is a pee bottle. I'm sure there is a technical/medical name for it.

I usually leave this on shore for my buddies who have all the gear and never fish.
