Yes you can use them as bait. :cheers1: smaller ones work great too |
Awesome catch Danny!

Nice Butt...Did you actually hook the halibut? One time I had one hold on to a small sand bass in the bay all the way to the kayak without having the hook in him. They are frickin mean suckers.
somehow he took a big ringed circle right in his mouth, it was funny I would hook the bait in the head and he would bite the tall then I put it in the tail and he took the head off. must have been a few of them in that spot I think it may be time to use the sling.
sling it up!
Nice. Ive been freediving a couple times this past couple weeks just looking around for lobster awaiting the opener. Each time I've seen atleast one halibut sitting in the sandy patches. Next time I will bring a sling. They are definitely around...
Did you catch the perch or did the butt cough it up? hahaha nice catch.
Very nice fishy. How'd he taste?
it was just like chicken. maybe a little better.
Have you ever "slung" a 30 incher??
not yet but i know where they are and I am going to try.

I remember catching perch & sometimes they have live babies in them. Those babies used to be great bait. Squeeze the belly & they would squirt out |
I want a halibut that can take a 10'' perch in one bite. The bite off the beach is great right now. Leopard sharks, perch, etc. I can not keep my bait on the hook long enough to get a big butt.
Danny, looks like you in da zone right now. What beach are you killing them at? Day or night?
