HAVE TRUCK WILL TRAVEL
I guess that says it. Finally the truck has arrived. As most of you know Baja needs to be driven with a 4x4 if you want to get to the really good places.
The new truck is a 2015 Ram Crew Cab 4x4 Diesel. Room for 3-4 adults to be comfortable on a long drive. I got the 8 foot bed so room for lots of gear and 3-4 yaks too. Getting ready to really explore the Baja. WHERE do you want to go? 2016 is wide open, give me your destinations and dates. On any future trips there should be room for at least two anglers to ride with me. Splitting fuel with one person should be the same as the old truck about $100 each for a round trip to Gonzaga. Should be able to carry TWO PA's plus my Outback and another yak in a pinch. So I guess this is an open invite, Next September is probabally booked with Walrus and his brothers but the rest of the year is up to you. I will post your input in early October, and fill the schedule with my choices for Jan to June 2016 at that time. Tight lines. B.O.B. 2016 is coming. |
Congrats on the new truck, Bob!

Nice choice on the truck, congrats. That's what I would like but not on my budget. Have to hang on to my Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 4x4, it goes anywhere I want it too. I just feel bad when I ask it to haul my 24" travel trailer up the mountains, like to Big Bear or up in the Sierras north of Bishop.

Congrats on the truck MB! Your generosity in making Baja dreams come true is truly remarkable. :you_rock: |
I really wanted to do an exploratory this year to some of the beaches around San Quintin. So that will be on the list for 2016.
Trips for the remainder of 2015 are, September 8-17 Gonzaga this is a private trip. October 17-24 Gonzaga, still room if you rent a palapa or camp on the beach. November 23 to December 3, Asuncion, visit Rossman for THANKSGIVING, Turkey by Buddha on the beach. December 26 to Jan 9, MAYBE MAG BAY or ?????? Where do you want to spend the new year?????? If no one comes up with a location I will plan on doing Gonzaga for New Years. It is time for YOU to give me some input for 2016. Where and when YOU want to go. Do your research, look at the tides and moon phases, fugure species available, best times of the year. Do your homework and we will set it up. Remember trips past Guerro Negro are usually TWO days driving each way in winter. Summer we can make Asuncion in a LONG days drive leaving San Diego by 4-5 am. and still get there before dark. Just fuel stops, no lolligaging. I know, I know you have to clear it with the wife AND work. START now to get the trip you really want. I plan on spending maybe HALF of 2016 in Baja and you are welcome to join me on these trips. Maybe a winter trip to check out the surf fishing around San Quintin, The lagoons at Abreojos with a GOOD chart. Calamajue south of Punta Final, LA Bay, by kayak or Punta Chivato. YOU tell ME and lets make it happen. Tight lines. |
Very nice Roberto. Now I don't have to rely on the local burros to get me off the beach at San Roque.
|
Not that you ever get stuck on the beach in San Roque.

So you got the EXACT truck that you were looking for! Very good.
I'm in for another week long trip in the Spring time for sure! Jay |
Bob...Robert...Roberto...
You are breaking Fishing Rule #1: NEVER leave biting fish. It's all right here and will be for a while...unless of course it's a trip down to Rossman's place! San Roque: Thanksgiving Week- 2015 Thanksgiving Week- 2016 How long is RossBeast staying down there? Well, add those years in too. Jim |
Congrats on the new truck. I picked up a 2014 a few weeks ago. What color did you get? Looking forward to the trip in October. Will have to put some thought in for 2016.

Now with 4000+ miles on it the milage is coming up. Trip to Gonzaga last week the lie-o-meter said we got around 21.5 MPG. Yesterday wife and I went round trip from Vista to Buena Park and ended up at 22.2 MPG, and I drove it at 68-69 MPH most of the way. So on most Baja or Bust trips who ever rides with me should get off pretty cheap. I will know much better in May when I go with the Clack brothers to Kentucky, that will be a great road trip. Then in 2017 some of are talking about a trip to Alaska for HALIBUT and SALMON. Tight lines. |
Damn I need to get my paperwork done with the Navy so I can make some of these trips ! How often do you go?

I have been thinking about a such trip too. Perhaps we can talk about it on the way down. |

And the Boss Lady lol unless she can go with!!
|
Nothing stopping her but YOU. These are still camping like trips, but I see no reason she could not come, specially not if she fishes. There is not a lot to do here, watch the stars at night, fish, swim, walk the beaches. Relax, read a book, just enjoy life. Just do it.
