OH NO!!! Last time i saw Leo was on feb 22. He was walking with his wife at La Jolla Shores enjoying the sunset. He was telling me that the tax payers paid way too much for the life guard tower.
He was very positive that day and said, "I will back in my kayak real soon again" Sorry to hear about his passing away. Leo was a good man :( |
I knew Leo well, he was enthusiastic, fun to talk to, positive and above all a good hearted friend. He will be missed, I will always picture him in his small fish and dive with a White Seabass almost bigger then the kayak, what a sight. If he wasn't on the water he would be hiding out at the shores checking on the daily catch. RIP my friend.

One of the good guys for sure. RIP Leo |
Very sad news.
I'l never forget the first time I met Leo. I had just landed at the shores, and he landed right after me a little further down the beach. He walks over to me, covered head to toe in blood, lugging a nice size yellowtail, smiling ear to ear, and wearing nothing but a speedo. Every time after that I saw Leo, whether he had a yellowtail or had been skunked, he still had that grin from ear to ear (and frequently the speedo). Truly a man that enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest. Rest in peace bother :cheers1: |
Hope You Catch Lots of Fish in Heaven...
|
A good man indeed. I will miss seeing him and talking with the Leo...RIP my friend.
|
Goodby Leo. RIP.

Safe Passage..
The Jewel will not be the same again without the frequent sightings of good ol’ Leopoldo..:(
An extremely gifted & talented man. I have had the pleasure of many a good times out & about with Leo. Extremely kind & generous soul who loved the ocean and cooking up EVERY piece of fish he caught, so much so, that he even asked for my yt or wsb heads for his famous Sancocho soups. Leo would share that, the recipes, recent fish action and anything else within his arms reach for you. A true gent around these parts!..:you_rock: Here is a short video he shot of me on one of many fishing excursions over the years..This one was over at Blacks. He frequented that part of the canyon & the Torrey artificial reef whenever the pressure would get thick.. Flying your plane high over Venezuela right about now with your speedo.. Heres to you Leo! :cheers1: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/MG0ByQcyWbc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://i59.tinypic.com/a2ghvm.jpg • |

Very sad to hear it. Leo was one of the most genuine guys I have met on the water and certainly the most stoked. RIP good man.
|
I never saw him without a smile on his face and a willingness to step right up and share the latest goings on. RIP Leo, you always brought a smile to my face.
|
Very sad to hear. He was a very nice guy. RIP.
|
Leo lived well and will be missed.
|
I never had the pleasure of meeting Leo but took note of how he always had postive posts on this board. Wade, that was a very nice video of the man. My prayers go out to his family. He is pulling on bigger fish than all of us now :reel:

R.I.P Leo.

Everyone knew Leo and Leo knew everyone. He was always the guy who never lost his passion for the sea whether he was sailing, fishing, or wishing he was fishing. Most of you who met him had a chance to listen to a story or two about Venezuela or one of his many adventures. Who didn't look forward to that!
It was always a joy to come back to the beach and expect to see him walk up to you and ask how your day was. There was never a hint of jealousy, bitterness, anger, hatred, or any negativity. He was always happy, always. Even for someone he never met, he would congratulate you on your catch of the day and truly be happy for you. In the last few months he was really hoping to get back on the water. So much so that he went out around 2 months ago, not even feeling 25%, just to be out there and enjoy fishing not catching. We could all take away a message from Leo. I think that he would tell us in his own way that life is too fun to be let down. There were many days that we spent out on the water together. Some epic days and some not so epic days. But I could never forget his excitement and enthusiasm for the sport we most of the time take for granted. But if Leo was hooked up, man watch out because it was game on! Rod bent, reel screaming and Leo poised for battle. Not many people can appreciate the gifted waters we fish monthly, weekly, daily, hourly. Take a page from Leo's book and enjoy each day. You will be missed dearly friend! It was an honor having a small part in your story. Rest in Peace Leopoldo Terrero http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall..._6064628_n.jpg |
R.I.P. Leo, you will be missed.

To the Mayor of Yellowtail Alley your contagious smile and warm hearted soul will be remembered by all. Hope your lines are forever tight and the weather is always perfect for flying!

When I started fishing years ago
He was one of the first person I had met on the water. Such a positive friendly guy. Had a great passion for the sport. Would allways have a big grin regardless if he caught fish. Leo you will be missed |
