Rockfish Derby Video!

Some of the video I took at La Jolla at the rockfish derby. Didn't catch all the wipeouts...cameras pointed in the wrong direction at the wrong person...ow' well, at least I caught jorges wipeout!

JeffB 04-08-2014 05:37 PM

Classic!

FISH11 04-08-2014 06:01 PM

That video was awesome. Great editing. I kept saying the same thing did he launch yet. Was that Mr. Patrick monitoring the surf? I could tell during the video some of those coming in were going to eat it, but the video cut away. So thanks for finally showing them at the end. Like Jorge, he would have been good if he just leaned his paddle and body into the wave as it hit him. It was so much fun to watch. I just wish I could have made it to the tourney. In about 3 week I hope to be well enough from the foot surgery to be back out in my X Factor. I sure do miss La Jolla!

cesar74 04-08-2014 06:11 PM

Great video!

Big Wave Dave 04-08-2014 06:11 PM

Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.

old_rookie 04-08-2014 06:11 PM

That was great.

Yeah, it looked challenging, and some showed some pro skills landing. It was really funny when cutting back to the one waiting and hearing the elevator music - reminded me of the 405 movie - I probably would have been doing the same, and flipped on the return. But if he was out a bit further, then sat down on his kayak at the right time, he may have been ok.

dorado50 04-08-2014 06:34 PM

I haven't been home much the last couple of years so it was nice seeing my front yard in almost real time. Looks like fun !

momo fish 04-08-2014 07:05 PM

Did I miss the part with Jorge wiping it? Nice video tony !! Very funny watching the timing of some launching.

roby 04-08-2014 07:09 PM

There were some nice waves coming in that day, but overall, it was not too bad coming in or out.

The video was hilarious....thumbs up!!

:luxhello:

ful-rac 04-08-2014 07:09 PM

TheBentRod 04-08-2014 07:27 PM

The raw footage must have been hilarious!

Thanks for sharing.

Chuck D 04-08-2014 07:30 PM

Friggin Classic Tony, Academy Award Material! Did that dude in the blue yak ever launch? Poooooor Jorge:D

ful-rac 04-08-2014 07:42 PM

The blue kayak is our very own mrpatrick!

He never did make it out. Thats ok he got to hang with me, jim and matt all day. We were entertained all day as you can see.

YakDout 04-08-2014 07:48 PM

If that is bad surf to launch in, I don't feel too intimidated of it anymore. And am I the only one who waits for the sets on the outside, then paddle my a## off so that I stay in between the waves the whole way in? I have biffed it too many times back in the day by riding the wave.

Joctane 04-08-2014 07:48 PM

Freakin Hilarious.

To me that is the way to do it.

Patience.

Or go in backwards so your bow is always pointing at a right angle to the surf.

Thanks for sharing, amazing ending... I think I laughed so hard at the speedo, I sharted... I mean... Nevermind...

PAL 04-08-2014 08:20 PM

Epic!

If I drove down to LJ this minute, I'd expect to see Blue Prowler Guy still waiting for his window.

(I know, that's Mr. Patrick)

driftwood 04-08-2014 08:57 PM

Mrpatrick said "I hate getting wet" That's like a duck saying, I hate getting my feet wet :D

When you launch off La Jolla on a kayak 90% of the time your gonna get wet. Kayak=wet.

Tony Tony Tony, man was that funny. Very good job. :cheers1:

Bert Vega 04-08-2014 10:53 PM

You said "who are you wearing" LMAO!!!! Great video. Thanks for sharing that

Hunter (The 80's Man) 04-08-2014 11:13 PM

Very funny video.. At first I thought Cpt. America was just a Euro tourist just trying to fit in.

momo fish 04-08-2014 11:26 PM

Ok just watched full video. Loved it. Need to ask though.

Jorge, what went wrong ? Looks like you had the landing. Rudder issues?

Deamon 04-09-2014 04:52 AM

I've come to learn, when Tony's got his camera "on" just scoot in behind him and stay out of the way. He's not looking to film anything good or fun...he's looking to trash you big time if he could. All in good fun. Great stuff Tony!
MrPatrick, it was your turn this time around. Besides, the entire story never gets told so what can you do...we ended up having a better time on the beach with you there hanging with us:cheers1: !

Next submittal by Team Sewer Productions...GONZAGA BAY! :paddleersmilie:
