Beginning December 1st BWE will be hosting a monthly contest. All you need to enter is a (current to that month) on the water photo of something you harvested from your kayak. It can be a duck you shot, fish you caught, lobster, crab whatever. Then follow up with a second photo of how you prepared your catch. After the end of the month we will post up all valid entries to have our members vote for their favorite. You can only win this contest once. We are planning to team up with Bubba Blade, everyone can always use another Great fillet knife. We will post up the Thread to submit on the 1st of each month as well as the voting thread for the previous month. Voting will be open from the 1st-3rd for the previous month with the winner chosen on the end of the 3rd day.

This thread got me thinking and hungry. I had some leftover smoked yellowtail from Thanksgiving and I made a new sauce for it and couldn't believe how good it came out, I mean my daughter was like wow, that's unusually but awesome. It came out waaaay better than expected. :D

I am really looking forward to other people's recipes.

Love it. Sounds great and I can't wait to see some of the catch and cooking ideas.

While the Peanut Sauce is Awesome, the chocolate cranberry mole sauce was just too weird. I did eat it all tho.

Question: for those who vote, do they have to try all the recipes for the flavor, or do they just vote for what sounds good, or do they vote for the biggest fish, the best photographs, or their favorite member? :confused:

The best would be a taste test which is unfeasible probably

Unless of course there was a Taste Off every 6 months or so. Chefs would cookup their recipes and attendees would vote for their favorites, maybe ranking their top 5 picks. Points added to deturmine winner.

OK am I the only one who thinks that fish was not bled properly? I've noticed a huge difference in the quality of flesh and the amount of blood in the meat when instantly bled and iced for 24 hrs before fileting. Icing brings the remaining blood to the surface and most of it will come off with the skin after fileting. Otherwise you get oily very gamey tasting fish. I've had yellowtail that I iced for a day and it was comparable to sushi house himachi
