Open Invitation To Fish With Team Sewer

Launch Location: Cabrillo Beach

Fishing Location: Team Sewer's rock fish honey hole

When: Sunday 12/22/2012(if we're still around)

Launch Time: between 0530 & 0600

Weather: Rain or Shine

There is enough free parking for at least 10 cars or you can park inside for $1/hr with a $9 max for the day. Bring your own box of squid unless you want to try and make bait but personally, I wouldn't waste my time with it.
If no one is in a hurry to leave we can all meat at sh*t burger for the last supper of 2012.

StinkyMatt 12-17-2012 06:54 PM

George,

Are we fishing outside where the beach launch is very big, with large rocks all over and that big rip current? I remember last time the wind was blowing from west and east at the same time and the swell was huge?

Too bad we never get anything there, but this time it feels different. I smell awesomeness.

bus kid 12-17-2012 07:17 PM

ericko 12-17-2012 07:22 PM

StinkyMatt 12-17-2012 07:25 PM

That's still nothing compared to my trip to moss landing 2 summers ago. Day started out with 3-5 foot swells but after paddling quite a few miles from the launch we meet 15-20 foot swells at like 20 secs and had to paddle like hell back to safety. Its a bad feeling when you the swells are taller than your yak is long.... Was the craziest trip of my life. I'm just glad we launched from a bay, if not we would have had to call the coastguard, beach landing was not an option....

I second that. I'm coming up. I appreciate the invite. Jim

l2exllen 12-18-2012 04:57 AM

22nd Saturday? or Sunday 23rd? I don't really have any experience surf launching but I've been dying to go rockfishing and I've never had a chance to go out with anyone. I'd love to join you guys if it's not too tough of a launch. Are you guys launching from the beach or boat launch?

maui jim 12-18-2012 06:21 AM

If I get my Christmas Eve party honeydo's list done, on time, I see ya there.,

Yes, the same beach where there are multiple shipwrecks scattered all along the beach. The place where the wind blows up and down and not side to side. The place that makes the big Hawaiian waves look like child's play

Tim got tossed three times in three tries the last time he launched there, seriously doubt he'll join us. I'm thinking he'll probably fish Irvine Lake with Tony
:D

Be there or be square:bigear:

ful-rac 12-18-2012 09:23 AM

Comon Jorge...Honey Hole....super lings...2 miles...really?! I'm glad I'm not the one making all these bogus promises....

Dont' you think your strectching it just a little...? Adding a little sugar on top...?
Measuring with too many wrinkles in your tape...? Holding it too close to the camera...? Measuring in millimeters..? Stepping on it too hard...? Pinching the tail too far...? Measuring over the top...? Adding too many sinkers...?

tagyak 12-18-2012 09:59 AM

anytime i hear that matt has some "super secret info" that just smells like bull sh@#. :p

I'll second that but add that there's a ton of pesky sand dabs and lizard fish that will consistently steal your bait while your fishing for the non existent fish. :D

Salty Dog 12-18-2012 11:18 PM

Is it usually better to fish a couple of days before or after the end of the world?

lowprofile 12-18-2012 11:27 PM

The advantage to fishing after the end of the world if that all the MLPA area's will be open again.

Biggameaddict 12-19-2012 11:50 AM

The gravitational pull from the planets aligning brings all the fish to the surface so bring out the surface iron cause the yellows are gonna be boiling.

h-james 12-22-2012 12:40 PM

If it's till on for tomorrow, I am in. Thanks for the invite!!

jorluivil 12-22-2012 01:46 PM

Yes, we're still on. There are some reports that there are supposed to be some larger sized swells coming through, we'll have to decide if we fish outside or inside for hali's when we get there. Bring some squid just in case we end up fishing outside.

GregAndrew 12-22-2012 02:04 PM

Need Squid and/or Sabikis for the inside too unless you want to fish with Anchovies.

StinkyMatt 12-22-2012 02:22 PM

Plan A Rockfish outside on a reef. Bring squid. You can also fish Hali's on the edges of the reef.

Plan B. ( if the swell or wind is too big outside, unlikely). Fish inside for Hali's. There are no sardines at the bait barge. Bring squid and artificials.

See you guys there around 5:30

Nice tide timing for us.

Deamon 12-22-2012 02:33 PM

I'm in. Looking forward to it! Jim

ful-rac 12-22-2012 04:32 PM

Did a solo trip out there today, surf was 1-3 ft, mostly 1-2 but a 3ft sneaker every once and a while. Weather was overall good today, sunny cold in the morning, warm in the afternoon, winds 5-10kts, 2-5 foot swell but widely spaced. Had the current running against the wind today which made it really hard to stay on the spot. You pretty much had 1 drop per drift, difficult conditions. Still managed to get a limit of cod, mix of reds, browns, and johnny bass. Nothing to write home about but fun. At least its not trout!

Confrimed, cabrillo bait barge did not have any sardines today just medium size anchovies. If you want to catch lizzards...anchovy on the bottom.

Fishing tomorrow...I may fish the inside, depending on how big the surf is...before with my stealth 3'-5ft waves were doable...with the pa...not so much...The surf may be building for tomorrow, i guess we'll have to see.

To the guys that havent fished out here make sure jorge takes you to his guaranteed giant lingcod hole....
