I Finally Did It Too!

Well, after nine years of kayak fishing it was time to live my dream. I have always wanted to buy a boat but I did not have the storage. So, I did the next best thing.
Step #1 Sell my Pro Angler, roof rack and a lot of accessories. I also installed my hitch and wiring kit. Complete. Step 2 Ask a lot of questions about my new fishing experience to come. Other fishermen, forums, dealers, insurance cost, maintenance schedule and costs, etc. Complete. Step 3 compare the brand names and find out which one is the most dependable and which model would fit my fishing habit. Complete Step 4 Boat U.S. safety course (certified now), Hook 5, ACR emergency beacon, Vessel Assist, Platinum Products Aluminum Rod/Ice chest holder (complete). It has four vertical rod holders on the back and two 45 degree rod holders on the front for trawling. This rack is very nice, everything is welded and powder coated and it fits a marine igloo 52 quart ice chest perfectly. Aerator, bilge pump, waterproof timer switch, Pelican case new battery when the engine is turned off. Just about complete! So, I am now the new owner of my new fishing platform. I will still need to install the fish finder and build the bait tank ice chest. I still have to wait a few days since it was out of stock and will need to be delivered and assembled. Silver and Blue are my choice. I am stoked! Definitely a sweet ride indeed. |
Sweet! Now you need to deck it out like the Florida boys do.

Kayak fishing of the future ? I'm guessing good range with little effort getting there equals fantastic opportunities for you. Hope you still post your catch.
|
18.5 gallon tank at 30 mph or less round trip 155 miles with 10% left in the tank. Now that is a lot of range.
|
I'm looking to do the same thing. Except I won't end up with a new ski. Most likely be a 2005-2007 fxho is what my "research" concluded. And my wallet of course. Keep us posted on how you do. I should have something ready I hope this summer if all goes well.
|
NICE! I do love kayaking a lot, but the lack of serious distance limits my fishing opportunities. A jet ski is something to consider. Keep us posted on your FF and other add ons. I'd love to see how the whole ride looks once it's fully rigged.

You bought the right brand.

Platinum Products Rod Rack came in. All aluminum, welded, powder coated and adjustable legs. I then had to find the ice chest that would fit. Igloo Marine 52 quart UV resistant. Perfect fit!

I picked up my Triton trailer earlier in the week. 12 foot long trailer with a five year warranty. Got the spare tire from Wally yesterday.

NICE! Been thinking about this too. Keep us posted for sure!
Go get em! :cheers1: |
Congrats! I have been doing some research into this for a while now, definitely looks like it is the way to go to cover some distance but still retain the independence similar to kayak fishing.
|
I've always liked the idea of PWC fishing. There are some good sites and resources around for setting up. I'd be so tempted to hit Catalina or some offshore spots every weekend.
|
AWESOME!
Please keep the add-ons coming and let us see this gorgeous ride when it is all said and done!

Well,
I finally picked her up yesterday. :luxhello: I am STOKED! |
There are some youtube channels of jetski fishermen bUT none local that i know about...please post some footage!
|
There's a local/San Diego group that does pwc fishing. It's called Bloodyjetskis.com. And yeah, I have been so wanting to fish off a pwc for a while now. I do have a PA 14 and I do love it still but ease of use and range makes me seriously contemplate jumping in to the Jetski fishing bandwagon.
