I tried the Shakin bait last year. Definitely washed out of the drake puck too quickly. I tried nylons stockings and it lasted a bit longer but...ABSOLUTELY no difference in the bug counts...Not in my arsenal after about (8) trips...Jim

Eh, it was free so I figured id try it out. I ground up the salmon scraps and soaked them in the shakin bait in a rubbermade in my yard in the sun for a few hours before loading them in the puck so hopefully the scent and oil is a little bit infused with the flesh? Plus the pucks are now frozen and hopefully it helps dispersion. I think it's kinda like using scents on plasitics....10% proven science 90% confidence booster lol

Are u making those pucks? Looks like the seals might have a hard time getting through those. Nice

Drake is the man to thank for these ingenious creations. They are lovingly refered to as the drakepuck and cost a little under 3 bucks apiece to make from home depot. From what I hear they are the bees knees

Linglifter 09-22-2013 06:54 AM

Is that a PVC cap and a storm drain cap?

todd one 09-22-2013 08:48 AM

You got me. I thought it was going to be a picture of 5 halibut.

Could you please give me a basic run down of what I need to make those or post up a link that has the instructions? Thanks :you_rock:

Genius idea Will, wish i would've seen those pucks before I made these "bait bombs".

I made those (bait bombs) and they work really well...

Glad to know Easy, cant wait to test them out. Also doubles as a small chum bucket hanging on the side of a yak when bait is hard to stay on top of.

That's why I opened this post too :D

Step 1 go to home depot

Step 2 go to plumbing section

Step 3 locate 4" slotted end cap and 4" slotted drain grate

Step 4 grab a snickers bar in the checkout line to replenish lost carbs

Step 5 shove the 2 pieces together

Hope this helps

Hah! :notworthy:

Linglifter 09-23-2013 10:32 AM

Thanks, which register at Home Depot has the cutest checker girl? ;)

Linglifter 09-23-2013 12:52 PM

Thanks again. 15 bucks for 4 pucks. Easy enough. Now I was thinking about bait. Salmon bellies lots of duck meat and leftover sardines and green backs. Wrapped in panty hose or cheese cloth. I hear the seals can suck ur bait right through the holes or slots and destroy shit. I've caught hundreds of pounds of dungeness but never spiny lobster. Looking forward to it

roadx 09-23-2013 01:06 PM

I may be wrong but pantie hose is a No No. Any thing that will trap or keep the lobster from physically leaving is illegal.
