farreola 10-06-2016 12:23 PM

I can split a dinner day with someone...I can make some of that chili I mad last time.

MrPukaShell 10-06-2016 12:44 PM

Bob, do you know if a panga will be available to hire this year? That was fun last year and would like to do it again is possible.

Mahigeer 10-06-2016 03:37 PM

I am still deciding, but if I go, can me and Bob have the second night.

I will be bringing stuff that should be eaten fresh and ASAP.

Thanks.

Pollo should be floating around rancho grande/Alphonsinas. Shouldn't be too hard to get a hold of him.

makobob 10-06-2016 04:28 PM

Robert it should not be a problem to get a panga. Hashem can do. let me know, thanks.

Hey Bob

So glad to hear you are planning on making it down, the crew at the restaurant will all be VERY happy to see you. I'm able to maybe team up with anyone who wants to share any night for dinner at the restaurant and cook up our fresh caught fish.

And now for a report from last week: I fished three days, one at las encantadas and two in gonzaga proper. On the second day I ran into Steve (EOD) from Idaho while fishing Gonzaga. I pulled up to him and his buddy fishing out of PA's and asked him how they were doing and he said, "Hey I've fished with you before!" After he took off his buff/sunglasses I recognized Steve from last year's October trip. Happy to have the company, I fished with Steven and his buddy Brian for the next day and a half. We caught all the usual suspects (Sierras, triggers, spotties) and also got into the skippies (although they were harder for me to catch on the flyrod this time than they were last October). I also caught an 8 pound yellowtail on my 8 weight that put up a great fight. Steve's buddy Brian caught a jack crevalle and Steve caught a nice cabrilla (15 lbs?) that ended up getting us a free lunch at the restaurant in Gonzaga. Fishing wasn't always fast and furious but was plenty good enough to have me stoked to go back in a few weeks :cheers1:

Looking forward to hanging out with the group and especially Senyor Mako!!!!

Mahigeer 10-07-2016 09:15 AM

Thanks Paul for the report. Any pictures of the fish caught, or maybe of the new bathroom?

I don't follow baseball except during the World Series, usually if the Dodgers are playing.

However, this year I will be a Chicago Cubs fan for it is a historical event if they win the series.

I remember there was a TV at the restaurant, and at the hotel at the Bay.

Am I correct to assume they can get the games?

I remember we watched NFL at the restaurant at the bay. It will be great to watch it close by at Jose's place.

Gr8fuldude 10-07-2016 06:29 PM

Hashem, the TV at the restaurant is kind of hit or miss, depending on how much solar energy they have in reserve. It never hurts to ask and I think our chances of catching a baseball game are good. A nice tip wouldn't hurt :).

I didn't take any pictures of the fish, I never remember or seem to feel motivated to take pics when fishing. I know, I know, no pics it didn't happen. As for the bathroom it is nice and clean and looks great.

Not necessarily. Though pictures help motivate others.

I am still on the fence, but falling toward going!

If I do, I could use your help with practicing my Spanish and reviewing handouts from a recent class that I took.

Por favor.

Gr8fuldude 10-08-2016 09:01 AM

Por supuesto, amigo! Yo te ayudo con el espanol si quieres.

That's it Paul, you reached the limit. When court is held around the campfire in the evenings YOU will teach the SPANISH CLASS, 10 words a night. Si quieres amigo!!!!!!! For the rest of us I understand a night cap may be available to enjoy the night skies, which should be fabulous for this trip as it should be the DARK of the MOON. Bring a jacket as evenings can be cool. Tight Lines.

De acuerdo, amigo. Lecciones de espanol para todos los que quieran. Looking forward to seeing you Roberto, and everyone else. Will be fun to have such a big group this time!

makobob 10-09-2016 08:39 AM

Newest WORD in is that Rossman may be able to join us for a night in camp, Which would be AWESOME. WEATHER expected will be in the 80's and the 90's with temps falling to the 60-70's at night. too early to predict the winds. Tight Lines.

Mahigeer 10-09-2016 09:38 AM

A good start.

Por supuesto, amigo! Yo te ayudo con el espanol si quieres.
Of course, friend! I'll help with the Spanish if you want.

De acuerdo, amigo. Lecciones de espanol para todos los que quieran.

I will bring my handout from the condense class that I took to share.

makobob 10-09-2016 10:16 AM

Mahigeer 10-09-2016 12:19 PM

YES.

It looks that way.

Starting to pack tomorrow.

I have not used the kayak since last time I was there. It is sitting on its side on Styrofoam blocks. I hope it is ok.
Though not necessary, I like to install the fish finder on it.

makobob 10-09-2016 04:05 PM

Glad you can make the trip. I guess we have dinner for night two. Guys there is a new freezer so we can keep the meats fresh all week. Also a vacuum sealer so you could take some fresh frozen fish home. Tight Lines.

Jefe Dos 10-09-2016 05:42 PM

We are in with 3 people driving down from San Diego. We can do a dinner Monday or Tuesday depending on what you need. I was thinking either grilled fish or steak with a grilled veggie salad and a corn risotto or pasta dish with hand made margaritas. What do you guys like to eat and what items are in short supply so we can add to the mix. Jefe Dos and crew

PM sent and WELCOME ABOARD, remember this place was build for BWE members to USE. Come early, stay late, it is yours to utilize. Keys at restaurant see Luis. Tell him I will be there on the 24th around noon.

I take you guys to the restaurant on my night, I provide the MEAT, they do the rice, beans, tortillas HOMEMADE, an usually a salad. I pay them $5.00 per person to cook and clean up, for me it means more time to fish and enjoy Baja. You can do the same or cook and clean up in camp.

BRING a comfortable chair for the evening campfire or sit on the throne. Tight Lines.

makobob 10-10-2016 11:09 AM

If you have all the parts we should be able to do the install down there if you cannot get it done before the trip............
We ARE TWO weeks out for this trip.

WE will meet up at Johnny's shell station in El Cajon just off the 8 and Magnolia by 5 am and caravan from there. Stopping at the am/pm just before the turn on to 111 for the border, for fuel, then stopping again in San Felipe for fuel and breakfast then on into camp before noon. Any questions please ask. Tight Lines.

Mahi, you can fill it out here online print, and just get it stamped at the border. I recommend it to save sometime. I am leaving sunday the 30th so I am going to do the under 8 day visa which is no cost. If you are going for eight days or more, you will need the paid one.

Since I don't speak Spanish and am too cute to go to Mexican jail, I will not take any chance on legal issues when I am down there.

farreola 10-11-2016 07:55 AM

I am working on my dual citizenship, so I wont have to worry any of that stuff!!!

YakDout 10-11-2016 02:04 PM

I have dual citizenship, but my second one is german not mexican. I know that I will never try to come back from mexico using only my german passport again. Even though it has a ca address on it.
