If I can figure out how to get my kayak on my truck I will come down. Was supposed to be teaching a Kayak Fishing Class but so far nobody has confirmed....

yaknewb 02-08-2011 12:43 PM

Hey Siebler what does it take to do this class your talking about?

Siebler 02-08-2011 12:49 PM

Just call OEX Mission Bay and sign up. It is a regular class we do at OEX. Intro to Kayak Fishing class, runs 150.00 and is 2 parts (seminar and on the water).

I also will do more Private classes that focus on one thing or another if you dont need all the basic Intro stuff.

Yeah might be a little tough right now.... Gonna work on that Thursday though, not enough weight back there yet so I need to get my dual spares mounted and figure out where to put tube thatll allow me to carry a kayak...

I mean I could almost rest it on the crossmember and then the rear cage tube but the exhaust may melt a hole in it.....

mtnbykr2 02-09-2011 11:47 AM

well now that looks like clean canvas to fabricate something cool to carry a yak on, I am sure you will figure out something nice, I would make a sub frame that can be removed when not in use, for those off road trips, maybe made out of 6061 or equivalent so it doesn't weigh too much to take on and off. If you have any questions I can hook you up with someone who could help...b

yeah plan is to do some more cagework in the bed then run the cab cage out and connect before figuring out what to do. Thinking a rack made of .120 wall 1.5" mild steel will work. Something similar to a Roof Top Tent platform so I can stack gear up there. Will likely weld 4-6 tabs on the cage and then weld stover nuts to the bottom on them so its super easy to remove. Just has to be tall enough to clear the 5 6" Pencil beam lights ill be running up top. Weight isnt a huge issue since my shocks are valved pretty heavy and the Deaver pacs are made to perform with dual spares, fuel cell, etc and my trucks way light.

All about time and money. Amazing the amount of both this stuff takes especially until I get a bender at my house.

I'll be there too, don't care much for the jackpot but I'll pitch in for the cause. Haven't fished artificials yet other than spoons off the rocks so any pointers would be welcomed. I have some 1/2oz warbait jigheads/swimbaits.

ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING! :D

In, see ya' mañana!

onetriphudson 02-11-2011 02:34 PM

another new guy

I was just at OEX Oceanside and Drew told me about this MBF.

I'm not new to fishing or kayaks but it has been a few years since my last tupperware adventure.

Got lucky a month ago with a cheap scupper classic off craigslist and I been having fun riggin it up.

Look forward to meeting some of you guys for the maiden voyage tomorrow. That way if it sinks to the bottom I'll have someone to wave off the boats while I swim to shore!

jfish 02-11-2011 04:48 PM

I have a pontoon paddle float tube..you guys mind if i join tomorrow? :D

Regor 02-12-2011 04:44 PM

Thanks All ! for a great time today. :luxhello:

It was nice to place a face to all those I did not know. Too bad the fish didn't participate a little more, but there's always ............... tomorrow :)

Slow fishing to start and finish for me. Only 3 fish, but threw big baits. My big one was 1 lb 10 oz. I was leading until Tyler brings out a 1 lb 13 oz. beauty with a big belly. Gorgeous day with good friends, great food after. Thanks PN and Rick and Drew (hope your better half is OK) Great to see and fish with everyone.

poorpaddy 02-12-2011 09:23 PM

Oh crap! So I guess I missed it. I thought it was moved to Sunday! Oh well, there's always next time. I'll launch from Shelter tomorrow instead.
