I was wondering what happened. Time to grab a beer and mourn the losses.
edit-> Feed is back up, but it says they are still on a short break. |
Paul Lebowitz Got the word on the B option SMCA. "Recreational coastal pelagics by hook and line only." Sorry my amphibious friends, there's no joy for you. And I fear our YT spot is done. Someone please double check the MLPA definition of coastal pelagics.

They are starting back up

Feed is back up and they are running.

Greg: Rocky Pt is looking pretty good. It'll be either an SMR farther down on the west face, or another one slightly north that gets the bottom 1/4 or so of RP. Cat West End is safe.
I'm going back to my Facebook feed. Please keep reposting the major stuff over here for me. |
Did I just hear that correctly 3 Potential Options for La Jolla for Further Discussion ?
The Smca @ Scripps & S. La Jolla or Map 2 Proposal as is or Swamis & Point Loma.............and All meet the SAT. ------------------------------------------ So defer to the Economic Impact to PCFV and Recreation Fishing and The Local Businesses you fken dummies. The Live Feed keeps cutting out. This is a nightmare. |
:the_finger::the_finger::the_finger::the_finger: I keep losing the feed. They need to improve there :the_finger: technology

talking about Laguna now
|
How can I access Paul's Facebook if I am not a Facebook Member ?
Is there a way ? |
No, I had to become a member. Don't plan on using it after this.
|
Still fighting over the OC wedge. It does a number on free divers. the boundaries are impossible to figure out from the water unless you have it mapped on your GPS. Overall kayak fishing out of Newport and Dana are looking good. There's nothing at Doheny or the headlands. the SMCAs allow all finfish. The issue is the entire span of Laguna north of the Aliso outfall.
|
Damn guidelines, they keep coming up. They did not listen to the people about the social economic impact. A shame for California.
"It does not restrict access it just means these people will not be able to fish" |
I wont spend a dime of money in Laguna ever again. regardless of the outcome, they city council there obviously doesnt welcome buisness.
theres a reason why thier is no fishign /tackle stores in Laguna, the City wont give you the permit. bunch of fruitcakes |
Meg Caldwell just doesn't get it on the access issue. We need fishing/spearing only areas with no surfing, scuba, or swimming. Then the other side will know how we feel.
|
How can anyone say any reserve does not restict access. Yet they said it multiple times:confused:
|
I would feel good about the whole system if those people from Laguna would get hosed. I can't believe that they would propose to close their entire coast. Alot of compromise there.
|
This is all utter nonsense...and they know it. That is the reason they had their tables set the way they were, to garner 'respect' and to let everyone know that they were in control. The rules were their's all along, they just had to play it out for appearance sake.
All you anti-fishers, you are seriously clueless, and when the SD/OC/LA economy starts taking a hit, and the DFG cuts back even more, and the price per pound for fish and lobster rise, we will make it a point to thank you with a :the_finger: salute, Bloody Decks style. |
More updates???????

Here we come Laguna...to take your fish, fill your trash cans, and not spend a stinkin' dime in your city...and make sure there's TP in the public bathrooms for us...:the_finger: |

They can't make decisions when they are not prepared to do it. It looks like no IPA will be made today. In each region the BRTF has a couple different options for closures. They will decide between those choices, and make an IPA. The decision will be made at a 1 day BRTF meeting in the LA area around November 10th. |
Paul Lebowitz They are talking about a day long meeting in Los Angeles in November.
:shot::banghead::banghead::banghead: |
I never thought we'd get Laguna, that's where "Friends of the Seals," are, they are all tree-huggers at their best.

They are the cupcake city. Thier police department drives hybird cars and ATVs. Its really easy to make them pay for thier elitism, dont give them any of your buisness. not 1 penny. 2 laguna lady who came into the laguna beach mettign with the 2 dead gardibaldi is perfect example. DFG didnt wirt her a citation. why is she the exception? After living in Dana Point for over 10 years, growing up there. and beign a frequent customer in thier city. no more for me. |

Paul Lebowitz This next one day meeting is tentatively for Nov 10 in the LAX area, 9:30 to 5:00 pm.
Well at least it's not when MOST of us are working. Goddamn these people. |
OMFG - they just put this thing on pause. We'll be back on Nov 10 somewhere in the LAX area. It may be time to rally the troops again. this is really a round 4 with BRTF alternatives.
Signing off now to head home. Guys, we need to crank it back up. <!-- / message --><!-- sig --> |
So is anything written in stone?? Or is it all still up in the air????
|
Nothing is in stone.
Even More Options are on the table. For La Jolla Map 2 style -Delmar and Sunset Cliffs -Swamis and Sunset Cliffs -SMCA At Scripps to Allow hook and line coastal pelagic (and Maybe Pelagic) South La Jolla to Crystal pier. |
Wow.
I watched the last hour with perfect feed.. We get to go to another meeting and state our cases :luxhello:. I am so sick of this entire thing. Thank you to Paul and all the RSG members for sitting through this for our sake. |
Its because of the Stand we Made Last Night.
and we are going to have to do it again, this time for all the marbles. --------------- I need a rest. |
Billy: you have the impression LJ will be Map 2 style? I was thinking it looked more like Map 3. Did I miss something?

Good news, no plan closes both South LJ and North PL. -edit When they archive the video in a day or so we can watch it again and see exactly what all the San Diego options were. It will be near the end. |

I was online following this thing all day. My take after watching the procedings is that while we don't yet know what is going to be the final outcome, it appears that we may have dodged the worst possible scenarios. Paul was there so I am sure he will have a better perspective.
With apologies to our brothers and sisters up north, my main concerns lie with what happens in San Diego. It looks like the three options being considered for this part of the world will all leave us with some to most of our favorite fishing grounds intact. We can hope that they just adopt option 2. From what I heard, there is at least one vote to do that. The other members of the BRTF were too hard to read so the outcome is still very much in doubt. I found it interesting that the BRTF basically told the DFG rep that they really did not care if the final MLPA maps were enforceable. Seems pretty arrogant to me. Bob |

Last night old Ken saved me as The Last Speaker. (I lost a bet with Zenspearo, it was going to be either one of us as punishment) In my final public comments I asked for what we discussed, in a very pointed and respectful way. -The stuff we need to preserve our sport -and for the spearos. I was approached after the close of the meeting and asked to repeat it to one of our rsg friendlies for a discussion that apparently took place this morning, or late last night. It certainly showed up at todays meeting. |
