The rest of the story...

I would Joe, but this is the small one :D. Take note of the gaff wound in the upper left shoulder when comparing these two fish. This fish is in my left hand with the larger one in my right. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwevb/....e_Trouble_.jpg The only thing better than a new women is two, right? Besides the thumping surf, this was a pretty good day. I was meeting a regular client on the water and came prepared; with twenty pounds of ice and some patience in a can! I was patient in the surf zone due to the extra load on the Prangler and picked a short window for my escape. I met up with my partner for the day just outside the surf and we made our way to the grounds. I never bothered making bait as my main job for the day was simply locating schools for my client. Which is what I did for the next six hours. We stalked a nice school for a bit, placing ourselves in perfect position. Then we both made a cast at the same time. I guess those extra thirty yards or so payed off again---as I was the only one to hook up (sorry brother :p ). I have no problem admitting this fish kicked my butt on the Ulua; after this fish was on deck I was done casting for the day. The obvious upgrade was packed in ice and we got right back on the hunt. Late that afternoon, my client decided to head for the barn and I made the decision to stay on the water. I handed out some patience in a can to a couple of friends in the area and simply relaxed for a bit. Then, headed to a location that produced a couple ever-so-slight clues earlier in the week. Turned out to be a good idea. After a short stint, while holding the rod, I felt that lovely thump! I instantly knew it was the right kind and my adrenaline rose before I gave her a soft-set. Head shakes followed by short runs confirmed my original adrenaline rush. Then I watched her come from the depths in the clear blue---what a sight! Not the giant trophy I was searching for, but a solid fish to complete my WCW slam. I gaffed, game clipped and instantly put her to sleep before burying her on ice. I took a direct heading to my waypoint and sent another bait down. Five seconds on the bottom I felt that lovely thump, again! Instant head shakes started the adrenaline pumping and I quickly realized this was a nicer fish. I took my time and made sure to place my gaff in the stomach this time. I quickly game clipped her and hit another home run with the Halibut bat. Which was followed by a primordial scream before packing her on ice, too. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwevb/....eavy_load_.jpg I got what I came for and headed for the barn; stoked! Like I said, it was a pretty good day. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwevb/....ong_night_.jpg That only got better! |

Laughing my ass off. I don't know what to say...... :D Hope the women were as fishy as the buts :cheers1:
that reminds me of a joke: One fine morning in Eden, God was looking for Adam and Eve, but couldn't find them. Later in the day God saw Adam and asked where he and Eve were earlier. Adam said, "The morning Eve and I made love for the first time." God said, "Adam, you have sinned. I knew this would happen. Where is Eve now?" Adam replied, "She's down at the river, washing herself out." "Damn," says God, "now all the fish will smell funny." |

WCW Post??? & Bill Poole Tourney Update
All this intrigue and mystery and Josh's Grand Slam will likely not qualify for the WCW. Last month Adi helped out the ultimate fisherman with his posting challenges to get his April sub on the proper venue. Not so sure Adi can help-out this time? The rules are the rules and the professional fisherman really does not even need this grand slam to win the 2012 WCW. Last year I wasted my 3 for 3 in March 60 lb. WSB submittal by not getting it in before the end of the month deadline but we will see how The King is treated by this great forum organizers.
Well, at least everyone seemed to enjoy the long Grand Slam story and Josh's extended typing skills. I certianly apprecaite his ethics in releasing all the WSB he referenced and passing on all the Yellowtail for us to enjoy. :notworthy: Personally, I am still searching for my first WSB of 2011. I have misplaced my WSB mojo but have enjoyed much hamachi so far this year. My efforts on behave of our local WSB with Hubbs and the Bill Poole Memorial Angling Tournament set for July 30-31st are paying off. OEX has joined our efforts with a generous donation of a kayak for our silent auction and The Fishery on Cass Street made a very generous donation of dining certificates as well. Bob Fletcher, Rick Maxa, and Carl Schmidt have secured a wide variety of rods, reels and sport fishing certificates for our silent auction as well. I hope we will see many of you participate in this great cause as well. Josh asked me about prize money for this contest and sorry the answer is no $ but a nice trophy and a good piece of mind for helping the WSB replenishment program to continue on beyond 2 million fish back in our SoCal waters. All proceeds from the silent auction and entry fees go directly to the Hubbs WSB program. So far we have no costs for the contest with all the great donations form the local community and corporations going to the WSB. Even the food for the great bbq and sushi is being donated by local chefs that have offered their services once again. I am still working on getting a beer donated as well. Hopefully, Moyer will be able to exert some pressure on Ballast Point for me to reel in a keg of Yellowtail. I am still on the fence about fishing in the kayak or sport boat division as the Excel is on-line for a one-day trip for the Bill Poole Memorial. Ingrid Poole changed the boat's schedule to accommodate this special fundraiser. The cost of the trip is $350 for almost a day and half with a 5pm departure set for 7/29, contest entry included in ticket price. If I can't figure out how to see these suspended WSB on my HSP I may have to go after tuna on the Excel. Call Fiherman's Landing if you have an interest in fishing on the best sport boat in the fleet for a very unique one-day run with only 35 other lucky soles. See you in July, Kurtfish :wsb: 5th Place 2010 WCW |
Damn......Damn......Damn......congratulations, very well done, again.
Thanks for the Pacifico out there, I do not remember any of those girls anywhere near the launch when you landed. They came out of nowhere. Next time I am personally checking your fish bag, you slow-playing SOB.:D |
