Do you have more pictures of the fish? I'm particularly interested in the area with what appears to be open wounds just aft of the gill plate. How about pics of the other side of the fish? thanks

You would have better odds of winning the lottery than getting bit by a thresher.....

seven gill

based on the bite radius and the fact that the bite did not go all the way thru I'm guessing 7gill.....i actually got one to the yak recently and got a good up close view of its mounth and tooth configuration, wierd hook like teeth on the top and comb teeth on the bottom...did some research and found that they have been known to attack seals in alaska.... If a white shark that big bit that fish i'm sure it would bit clean thru!!!

I know Seven Gills get big, but I've never caught one with a bite radius that size before. Yesterday a monster Seven Gill kept harrassing my fishing partner and the bite radius matched perfectly. The shark wouldn't leave for almost an hour and actually charged the kayak with his head half out of the water . Being fisherman who refused to leave "his spot" we did the only thing we could, baited him :D.

Oh yeah, "his spot" was full of fish too :wsb:.
