3 Hammerheads is a lot for one day! I don't think I have seen that many in one day. Usually one or two, one time a huge one alongside, was very humbling. Yes, The rig is for groupers. The groupers are cautious here. If they see the weight, they get lockjaw. The method is to have 40ft or more leader from the weight. I attach the weight with a rubberband so that it can be pulled off as I reel up. Out of a dozen tries, I have managed to pull one Grouper out of the wrecks and taken many by-catch species. :reel::reel: |

Ya- la Jolla that year was full of hammerheads
Quote:
It had about a 2ft hammer and as long as my kayak it took me on a good sled ride. As soon as I pulled it up next to my kayak, I cut the line. My only regrets is after the guy in a pro angler caught up to me, he said he had a go pro we could have got some footage. He couldn't believe how fast and far it pulled me I had no idea. I just kept my pole between my legs and held on. 2ft away is to close for comfort. The other 2 I knew what they were and I just thumb the spool and snapped the line. I met the other guy that day at the launch and I'm glad we fished together because we both warned each other that a hammerhead was on your tail. |

As in 99 luft balloons
The German version, to those who don't no my Nena.... Shallow minded American critics considered her a one hit wonder, with the song 99 red🎈balloons Only second to Van Halen Jump in 1983. True of the matter she had at least 10 top ten hits in Germany 🇩🇪 👏 Inspiration comes in many ways...... Alittle sand for grout and calling it weed barrier Cobo stone.....going to refinish the ugly concrete to. |

Mack
King Mackerel is one of the most spectacular fish to be taken off a kayak. They are not as good eating or prestigious as a Wahoo, but their method of attack is very similar. Racing in at full speed to cut the propellor off the bait, they are frequently taken on a back stinger hook. If the stinger misses, they are often hooked when they swim back to eat the second half of the bait. I have had instances when they hit so hard, that they bit through the 40lb wire stinger, but then got hooked on the return bite. They will sometimes jump 4-40ft out of the water to attack a bait. The first run is a screamer, and that is where the big ones get the name smokers. They also make a good smoked fish spread. https://i.postimg.cc/gk1VJWLR/42lb-King15e.jpg |
SCREAMER
As in the sound that must have come from the drag on your reel! It must be real nice to have so many large species to target. Tight Lines!
