Where's frank and his political views on fishing license requirements when you need him?

I think subject here is not why we need fishing license.

Rather the benefit of being able to purchase it any time of the year and be it good for a year from the date of purchase.

As to why it takes so long to make it a law? I have no idea, but it is a step in the right direction if you ask me.

Funny nobody has brought this up yet, i had to do some digging as i just went to Renew my yearly license and i noticed it expires 12.31.2018 :mad::the_finger:

I think as Rossman said, it would be too much revenue loss for the State; seems to be the Assembly killed the bill...

Well you can thank Democrat Assembly Member Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher, (a former Labor Organizer... :::cough cough::: ) who was solely responsible for killing this bill.

I cannot honestly understand what her reasons were for doing it. Weeks before the decision, I personally wrote her a polite email urging her to please pass Senate Bill 187, explaining how it would not only help out sportfisherman like myself, but the state as well. Clearly it fell on deaf ears. The bill had no opposition and was passed unanimously by the senate before she killed it without a vote.

Effen politicians. :the_finger: What are ya gonna do?

A new bill is in the pipeline that makes it much worst for us. It provides the same 12 months term but at a substantial increase is fees. 30% more for license and substantially reduces veterans and disable discounts.

Do you know where to find more info on that bill? I’m not necessarily against increases if 100% goes back into better Fishing habitat and not more closed habitat. We need to maintain studies, keep the ocean clean and protect our natural resources. What I don’t like is an increase on an already pricey license fee to have the money go to shutting down healthy fishable populations of fish and habitat.

At the end of the day they should be collecting a similar amount of funds with the cost shifting more toward guys like us who carry a permit on an on going basis. Time to consider that lifetime permit I've been on the fence on.
