(Thinks ... "inside" means inside. What's inside of what?) [headscratch] The infamous "NW Corner" always bugged me too, until I finally figured out it means NW of the kelp beds. Duh. BTW, I know where the "parking lot" tends to be. That one is obvious. It's a place I prefer to avoid. Maybe that's the same basic area as "inside"? I'll stop trying to dissect the meaning of words now. GPS coordinates, headings and compass references are easier for me to follow. There's a lot of water out there. Indeed, ...... :cheers1: Next round is on me! :D PS - just figured out what "Based" means, .... as in "Based Stick Man" (I would guess he knows how to subdue feisty halibut.) OK, I can accept that one :p We're all pretty based around here. As a way of life, it's not a bad way to be. |

Usually locations like "inside, below, above, outside" are purposefully ambiguous. When you are working an area and sharing info with other people, you use a general location that was pre-agreed upon, then only talk about your position in relation to an undisclosed reference point.
For example in tuna fishing you always hear people say something like "I'm 10 below and 5 inside" which means nautical miles in relation to the reference coordinate. Then you can blast out your position and only those with the reference location can find it. I've fished LJ when inside meant 200' off the condo, and conversely there are times when outside meant 70' in the kelp. Also, the true NWC is acutually south west of the northrnmost kelp edge. Just to confuse the issue further... :) |
