I thought there was room for 30. Have you maxed out? If so, can I get on the
waiting list?

Iceman 03-05-2008 07:33 AM

I did send in the check to the Flyer yesterday, (I had to pay one month prior, to secure the space) After talking with the Flyer I will be able to add on the balance of people to maximum 30.

There was one ahead of you Dave, so you would be #25. Call me with a CC etc. I am open limited hours the next 3 days with Fred Hall. Today 9-12, tomorrow 9-2, Friday 9-2. Weekend 9-6. If anyone calls outside these hours leave a phone # and you will get on, up to 30.

OH MY GAAAWWWDDDD....I just can't believe you guys are putting Andy through this torture with your tardiness! Why can't people be as punctual as I and let him know one minute before the deadline:luxhello:lol:the_finger:

p.s. Troy, I have a one man tent and single sleeping bag, wanna share together? That is how they do it in Laguna Beach isn't it?

Rhyno1 03-05-2008 09:28 AM

GO CAT GO!

Well fed artesian water at the Little Harbor camp area, good for cooking etc. Also a cold shower. Bring a solar shower, for warm water shower, as long as the sun is out! Camp site Ranger has wood, propane, batteries, etc. Bring as much ice as possible, fillet knives and ziplocks for all your huge WSB, Halibut, and Yellowtail fillets! Wish I could join you, have fun, extra batterie for your handheld VHF is a good idea. TL Rhino

Tman 03-05-2008 10:15 AM

Thanks for that heads up Rhino oh Cat veteran...might change your mind, I may bring some of that special cactus juice...

Oh, and Grego, that is just plain wrong...lol

Zed 03-05-2008 11:32 AM

Oh damn, I've got my own tent.
And the Conga line starts behind T-man, he asked first.

Does Cat know it's going to be invaded?

Rhyno1 03-05-2008 12:56 PM

Go Cat GO....

Ah T-man, you know how I like that cactus juice!!! It is going to be a colorful invasion to be sure!
Grego that is just the nature of the beast, from my past experience with these sorts of trips.
If you guys need any secret spots close to camp, you better stop by and visit me at the Fred Hall show this weekend in Long Beach. My 3:15pm seminar both Saturday and Sunday is on Camping and Mothershipping Catalina and the Channel Islands, go figure! Good luck out there, be safe and have a blast! I know you will too! TL Rhyno1

Since ice will be difficult to keep the filets... and cervesa'a for up to 3 days... should we plan on blocks instead of cubed or crushed? Just Wondering...

I also have a two person tent that I could share if needed, it is a nice Mountain Hardware conversion tent... it will sleep three, but only if I know you better!:D it is the four seasons of tents... no pun intended...

Who all will be bringing stoves that they are willing to share so that we do not have 30 different stoves? I have one, but did not know if I should bring it or not.

Does anyone have information on 12V solar chargers for VHF, batteries, etc?

I have never been on a trip like this, so I am just trying to be prepared, as you can tell I have lots of questions...:hmmmm2:.

Thanks in advance!

Opportunity favors the prepared!

I believe there are fire pits and fire wood for sale. The stoves wont be too important except for coffee or some instant food.

If you are making fresh food meals, cutting board, your knife, a pot and frying pan. If you will go the Boyardee (MRE's) way, single pot will do. Dump foil packs in hot water or just re-heat.

I have no idea how to keep fish in a trip like this. Would appreciate advise. Dont think the ice in the cooler thing will work out for three days.

This is obviously not a meat trip.
Think about the logistics of keeping fish.

This is very similar to an extended stay in MEX. You will not have a freezer and you will not have unlimited ice. Take what you want and eat what you take. If you're thinking of stocking up on filets, maybe you might want to just get on a Sport Boat with your $185.

Or, dump some fish on this Parker I keep reading about. That must be the reason for it being there.

tylerdurden 03-06-2008 01:08 PM

I haven't done a ferry trip to Cat either but...

Does the ferry allow dry ice in an icechest? If they do that could help with the fish storage problem if we get so lucky. I couldn't find any info on the ferry website about that. For a 3 day trip I don't think we'll need extra ice, if we stock the ice chest well before hand. I've done 3 day baja trips and the ice has been fine. Bring lots and possibly blocked ice. Maybe cut down on the beer and bring harder stuff to conserve icechest space for blocked ice and fish.

Andy (Iceman) collected all of our emails, I believe so we can organize things through email.

Don't count on the guys in the parker for storage. They are bringing at least 3 guys and fish/kayak/camping gear. They will likely already be cramped for space.

This trip is more of an adventure than a meat trip. I do hope we hit the ghosts, but you never know.
