interesting whats AIS? The skipper does need to have his boat removed from his possession. I agree he prob. will do this to another kayaker again. This will not happen again to me. Or we are both going down. The rule of law is dead in this country |
Automatic Identification system. It is a location and vessel reporting system. It allows vessels equipped with AIS to automatically receive position, speed, course and vessel Identity information from other AIS equipped vessels.

Glad your still alive.
Visibility is the key factor, here. I especiallyhate itwhen big boaters pass me within 10-20 ft and create such a large wake that it picks up my stern and i have to surf it.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: On a boater's perspective: I couple of weeks ago i drove a boat from catalina to long beach about 26mph. I was monitoring the GPS, trying to keep my stability while keeping the bow above the wakes, trying to make sure no kayakers were in front of me, and watching the instruments. which is hard on a kayak, because the only thing that comes to mind is the yak attack flag folds while launching to keep visibility. |

I had a sailboat bear down on me at DP once and when I brought it to his attention his reply was, "I'm bigger", and he kept coming. I yelled back "LAWYER!".
He turned. |
