Bar Jacks named for the iridescent bar on their backs are the most common alternative bait I will use if I strike out on catching Google Eyes and Blue Runners during pre dawn bait fishing. These jacks start feeding at sunrise and are found in schools on the up current side of structure in 40 to 170ft of water. If the sabiki does not get hit on the sink dropping through them, It will often get hit during a fast pumping retrieve back up through the school.
